Michael McGrone Sr. is a lead consultant of MTL Education, Inc. and a native of Gary, Indiana. Michael experienced numerous challenges throughout his life. He grew up in Gary at a time where the city was over come with drugs and violence. He lost numerous friends to gun violence and was a victim of violence himself, having a gun put to his head. He was physically abused, failed the 3rd grade, graduated high school with a 1.2 GPA and was homeless his first year of college.
Despite his harrowing background, Michael went on to become the first African American Assistant Principal in Bishop Noll's 88-year existence (a Catholic school located in Hammond, IN). He would also graduate with his masterʼs degree from Governors State with a 3.8 GPA in educational leadership. Michael brings over 25 years of experience working with students. Heʼs worked at numerous group homes, psychiatric facilities, and both alternative and charter schools. The struggles he encountered throughout his life would give him the tools necessary to propel students to greatness. Michael regularly serves as a keynote speaker for numerous organizations to share his journey and inspire others. He currently resides in Chicago, IL.
